Promo for ‘Skin Deep’ coming up in two weeks. What do you think? Looks like an interesting turn of events, wouldn’t you say?

Emilie de Ravin talks Belle/Rumpelstiltskin Relationship

"Lost" alum Emilie de Ravin is coming to "Once Upon a Time" Sunday (Feb. 12) as Belle, the fairy tale princess who sacrifices her freedom to save her friends and family in the ogre war. Just how does she do that? By becoming the captive of Rumpelstiltskin.

"[Belle] has always wanted to be the brave one and go out into the world and do something with her life and she has the chance to," says de Ravin. "She has a chance to save her family and her friends by going to live with Mr. Stiltskin."

Rumpelstiltskin is the “beast” role in the fairy tale of “Beauty and the Beast,” which has us wondering if the relationship between Belle and Rumpel is the same as in the fairy tale - is there love there?

"There’s a love," says De Ravin. "Not the same as where the fairy tale goes, but there’s actually a really beautiful progression in their relationship … he finds himself smiling and laughing at things for the first time in a very long time."

"This friendship definitely turns into more than that," De Ravin continues. "But not in the same way as the animation. In maybe more of an adult reality sense, the way things don’t always work out in the real world."

We can’t wait to see it - Robert Carlyle has always been so great as Rumpelstiltskin that we can feel our hearts breaking already.

Emilie de Ravin (Belle) to return in future episode(s)!

‘ONCE UPON A TIME’: EMILIE DE RAVIN TEASES NEW SIDE OF RUMPLE
In the episode “Desperate Souls,” Once Upon a Time viewers got a look at Rumpelstiltskin as we’d never seen him before. And in this week’s episode, guest star Emilie de Ravin says Rumpel fans will get yet another new look at one of show’s most iconic villains. “He’s still Rumpel. He’s the same guy, but it’s going to be cool for the audience to see him in his home environment — to see him in his castle and day-to-day Rumpel life,” she says.

The real fun, however, comes when Belle enters his world and, much like the story we all know, disrupts his ongoings. “[They also get to see] how he’s influenced by Belle,” de Ravin says. “In this episode, for the first time since he changed into this crazy guy, he has somebody whose starting to care for him. And he’s disbelieving of that [but] starting to enjoy it and be a little more open and jovial and sweet. That’s a really different Rumpel than we’ve seen before.”

And while fans shouldn’t necessarily expect a happy ending, they can count on one thing: Belle’s imminent return after this week’s episode. “I do come back, and I’d love to come back for a lot more because I love the show and had a lot of fun with it,” she says. “Belle’s a really fun character because she’s a strong young woman. Also, the people on the show are giving actors and fun to work with. That’s hard to find.”

Chat with Jane Espenson tonight during West Coast ‘Skin Deep’ Broadcast!

The episode was penned by Once Upon a Time writer/producer Jane Espenson, who wrote last November’s “Still, Small Voice” and the recently aired “Desperate Souls,” another episode diving into Rumple’s backstory. Jane told me that the episode “tackles a classic story that we haven’t touched on before, crossing that story with Rumplestiltskin in an unexpected way. And it will reveal a little something about Gold in Storybrooke — just how much does he know?”

Jane will be joining us here at Blogcritics’ Once Upon a Time feature next Sunday evening after the episode airs on the East Coast (9:00 p.m. ET) for a LiveChat.

Want to participate in the Live Chat? You can do so -HERE-. It will be well worth it, I promise you! :)

Reminder: Skin Deep premires tonight!

Don’t forget to catch ‘Skin Deep’ premiring tonight on ABC! Tune in at 8pm EST to catch this exciting episode featuring LOST Alum Emilie de Ravin playing the part of our beloved Belle.

After Mr. Gold’s house is robbed, Emma keeps a close eye on him when it looks like he wants to track down the criminal and dole out some vigilante justice as payback, and Valentine’s Day finds Mary Margaret, Ruby and Ashley having a girls’ night out. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Belle (Emilie de Ravin, “Lost”) agrees to a fateful deal to give up her freedom in order to save her town from the horrors of the Ogre war.

This episode proves to be a fantastic take on the classic story, Beauty and the Beast.

(You can DVR the Grammy’s or switch in between channels, trust me, this is worth it! We also want to keep those ratings up, don’t we?)
